Following his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) the commission on Tuesday, December 15, the commission has slammed two separate charges in two different courts on the former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Patrick Apkobolokemi, and several others. The Federal Government on Thursday said it will end payments on petrol subsidy in June 2023. The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, said this on Thursday during an inquiry by the House of Representatives Committee over payments of petrol subsidy by the Federal Government. It is understood that the House of Representatives Committee is investigating petroleum products for subsidy regime from 2013 to 2022. In her presentation, Ahmed disclosed that the subsidy regime was not sustainable and the government will end the payment of subsidy by half of next year, as contained in the 2023-2025 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper.
